To a culture that worshiped the sun, most celebrations revolved around the sun's cycles. For the Incas, the Winter Solstice was the most important day of the year. This is the day of Inti Raymi - Quechua for Festival of the Sun! It was a time of offerings, sacrifices, dancing and celebrating. In the old capital city of the Incas, this festival continues with all it's ancient royal pomp and energy. Dances and ceremonies are played out at the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman above Cusco. During this holiday, visitors from all over Peru and from other countries arrive in Cusco to celebrate side by side with Cusco residents!

Saturday, 20th of June - Lima
Arrival in Lima. Transfer to the Hotel.

Sunday, 21th of June - Lima / Cusco - Cusco City Tour
Transfer to Lima's airport to take the flight to Cusco.
Upon arrival reception, assistance and transfer to the hotel. Visitors should take a short rest in order to adjust to altitude.
Afternoon tour of the city visiting the Korikancha Temple and the Cathedral. Continue to the surrounding ruins: the fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking the city, Kenko, Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay ruins. The excursion ends at the bohemian district of San Blas, house to the most famous craftsmen of Cusco. Back to Cusco in the afternoon

Monday , 22 th of June - Sacred Valley of the Incas - Cusco
Excursion to the Sacred Inca's Valley, over the Vilcanota river, visiting the Inca Citadel of Pisac and the colonial town of Pisac where a typical Indian market takes place. In the afternoon pass through Calca and Urubamba to arrive at the Inca fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo. On the way back to Cusco visit the picturesque Andean village of Chinchero where the remains of what was the royal hacienda of Tupac Inca Yupanqui lie. Admire its well preserved Inca Wall at the Main Square, visit the beautiful colonial temple with interesting frescoes on the portico, built on Inca foundations.

Tuesday, 23th of June - Machu Picchu - Cusco
Take the morning train for a full day tour of Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas" one of the most famous examples of Inca architecture. Surrounded by lush cloud forest, the citadel perches on a mist-shrouded mountain top. Lunch at Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon, return to Cusco and hotel.

Wednesday, 24th of June - Inti Raymi - Cusco
Participate of the impressive festival of the Inti Raymi at the Sacsayhuaman fortress and experience by yourself this ritual celebrated since Inca times. Box lunch.

Thursday, 25th of June - Cusco / Lima
Transfer to Cusco airport for departure flight to Lima. End of our services.
