Day 1: JULIACA / PUNO
Assistance
on your arrival in Juliaca. On your way to Puno, visit the famous
Chullpas of Sillustani, cylinder burial towers built of stone, (12m /
40ft tall) where the Aymaras buried their important leaders. Lake Umayo,
located in front of the Chullpas, only adds beauty to the place. Here
you will have the opportunity to observe the wild guinea pigs, birds and
other wildlife of the area. Arrival to selected hotel where you will
have the time free to rest and get acclimated to the altitude. If you
arrive by train the excursion to Sillustani will be on Day 4.
Day 2: PUNO - Titicaca Lake : Floating Islands of the Uros and overnight
at the Amantani Island (B) (L) (D)
After
breakfast, take a two-hour motor boat excursion on the Titicaca Lake
waters towards the unique Floating Islands of the Uros, ancient
inhabitants of the lake, known as the Water Tribe. This Andean natives
built their own islands by adding periodically new layers of a unique
plant called "totora" (a type of reed), as well as their homes and boats.
After experiencing some of the ancient traditions of the local people,
continue your motor boat trip to Amantani Island, inhabited by quechua-speaking
natives still ruled by their ancient traditions and whose main
occupations are the production of ceramics and textiles. The positive
energy of this island is so powerful that it is known as the "Love
Island". Box lunch. Overnight at the house of a local islander to enjoy
the hospitality of a typical Amantani home.
Day 3: Titicaca Lake : Amantani Island and Taquile Island PUNO (B) (L)
After
breakfast, time at leisure to stroll by the quaint streets of this
colorful island. Late morning, take motor-boat towards the Taquile
Island, inhabited by quechua-speaking natives who have developed an
efficient and original social systems and a fine hand weaving technique
through generations. After lunch at a local posada of Taquile, take a
walk through the several hills and archaeological sites of this 6km long
island. Afternoon, return to Puno for overnight at selected hotel.
Day 4: PUNO / JULIACA (B)
In
the morning, transfer to Juliaca airport to take your departure flight. End of services.
